Medical Outreach and Skills Training – Bamenda, July 20–21, 2023

On July 20th and 21st, 2023, Sustaining Peace Foundation (SPF) carried out a medical outreach and vocational training program in Bamenda, aimed at improving community health and economic self-reliance among vulnerable groups.

Medical Consultations

A total of 98 individuals from the local community benefited from free medical consultations provided by a volunteer team of healthcare professionals. The services included:

  • General health checkups (blood pressure, glucose levels, etc.)

  • Basic treatment for common illnesses

  • Health counseling and medical referrals for further care

This outreach was particularly impactful in addressing neglected health concerns among underserved populations, many of whom had limited access to professional medical services.

Skills Acquisition Training

In addition to healthcare services, SPF also facilitated hands-on vocational training sessions to equip participants, especially women and youth, with practical, income-generating skills. Training included:

  • Liquid Soap Production
  • Javel (bleach/disinfectant) Preparation

  • Rub (medicated balm) Making

  • Vaseline (petroleum jelly) Production

These trainings were designed to empower beneficiaries with the knowledge and tools needed to start small-scale businesses, thereby supporting household income and promoting financial independence.

The two-day outreach in Bamenda was met with overwhelming community participation and gratitude. It reinforced our mission to foster peace through health, education, and economic empowerment, especially in regions affected by social and economic instability.
